Automatic Garage Door Openers
Garage door openers are no longer considered a luxury item, but have become a standard part of home or business’s access and security. Garage door openers do not just open and close overhead garage doors, but they also make for a good locking system. It is also common to use the garage door for routine trips in and out of the house. For this reason automatic garage doors require more maintenance and repairs than ever before. When you push that button and your door won’t open or close it can be a major problem. It is impossible to drive to the office when your car is stuck inside the garage, and who can sleep comfortably at night knowing that the garage door won’t close. Automatic garage door openers are no longer considered a luxury item, they are now more of a standard home appliance. At CSS Garage Doors we install and replace automatic garage door openers in Jasper, Canton, Cumming, Woodstock, Alpharetta, Roswell, Acworth, Kennesaw, and Marietta. We can also repair or install your current garage door opener. Our employees will show up with a fully stocked truck with the most common replacement opener parts such as circuit boards, gears, trolleys, capacitors, and new automatic garage door openers. Chain Drive Automatic Openers
Our chain drive openers are simple, strong, and very reliable. A chain drive system will open and close a garage door reliably for many years problem free. The chain drive opener is sometimes the best option for heavy carriage doors because they are strong, sturdy, and rigid. Chain drive openers are considered a base model opener because they are more noisy than a belt driven opener. A chain driven opener will not last as long as a belt drive opener because the chain is heavy and puts more stress on the gear system than a belt. Chain drive openers can be purchased as 3/4, 1/2, or 1/3 horse power motor heads and can be used with multiple motor models. We usually recommend the Linear LDO 50 because we find it to be the most user friendly and reliable chain drive opener made. Lift Master and Genie also make decent openers if you want the most popular name brands, but they are not made to last as long as a Linear.
Belt Drive Automatic Openers
Belt drive openers are very nice because they are the quietest openers made. The latest models of belt drive openers have a DC powered motor which are virtually silent compared to the older AC powered motors. Our first choice for belt drive openers is the Linear LDCO800 which is the quietest opener made and also is compatible with a battery backup. Battery backups allow you to open and close your garage door up to eight times when the power is out. The LDCO800 also has a sleep mode when the opener is left dormant to save energy. These openers are silent, strong, and energy efficient with lifetime warranties on both the belt and motor. Call us today to learn more about our garage door opener service in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Direct Drive Openers
The jack shaft opener is a direct drive opener that attaches directly to a torsion spring system. Jack shaft openers do not work with all garage door systems but can be modified to work with commercial sheet doors. The jack shaft motor is a premium series garage door opener with a silent DC motor, a safety shut off system, safety eyes, and an automatic lock. Jack shaft motors do not have a rail like standard openers and they mount to the side of a door on the torsion tube. Jack shaft openers are best suited for high lift track systems or for garages where an opener rail will not fit. The jack shaft opener is the most expensive type of opener to install for residential garage doors, but they are occasionally necessary in some situations and they are the best residential garage door openers available.
Screw Drive Automatic Openers
Screw drive openers can be more problematic than the chain drive, belt drive, or jack shaft openers. For that reason we do not offer any screw drive openers unless a customer insists. Screw drive openers usually get louder over time, and the screw system requires more maintenance than the other types of openers made. We have found that even the newer models are simply less reliable than a chain drive or belt drive opener. Screw drive openers have a long threaded shaft that turns to move a trolley forward and backward. The threaded shaft creates friction when not lubricated regularly and for that reason screw drive openers are less reliable, especially in the winter time.
Garage Door Opener Repairs
Most garage door openers are very reliable for 10-15 years, but at some point they are going to quit working. If your opener breaks and it is less than 15 years old, repairing it might be a good option. The motors in openers usually out last the gears and the other parts around the motor. We stock gears, trolleys, circuit boards, safety eyes, and many other small opener parts which enables us to repair your opener on the spot. Repairing an opener is often a good choice because the electric motors are made to last for a very long time, but we never guarantee the parts that we did not replace.
